disable IPv6 on kernel level in Debian 6 (and it’s derivatives)

OK, this is just a quick notes. Recently all VPS I bought had IPv6 already enabled. Well, for me, that’s not my preference — it’s cool but I don’t need it at the moment —  because I noticed some slowness when updating packages (apt-get update) and when used as streaming servers. That’s maybe because not all networks are IPv6 ready.

Straight from Debian 6 documentations on Ipv6, type this command in your shell:

root@debian:~# echo net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6=1 > /etc/sysctl.d/disableipv6.conf

Anddd reboot the server! Done! (You can check it via ifconfig -a if you are not sure)
